Rob's Story

Rob  started out in the Electronics industry,  attained his BS in Electrical Engineering at CSU Long Beach, worked various technical jobs, before going into Applications Engineering and Marketing, being a pioneer in developing the writable DVD disc.  From there Rob rose to senior management in the computer industry.

It was years later, when Rob would discover that God had more in store for him.  When his company relocated to North Carolina, he began listening to "A New Beginning" a radio show by Greg Laurie.  Impacted by Greg's message Rob invited Christ to be his personal Lord and Savior and began a new chapter in his life.  He began studying his Bible and his desire to know God and make Him known grew inside of him.  During that time God planted the first seeds of a desire to be in ministry.  He returned to CA and began serving in his local church in children's ministry, youth ministry and college ministry.

A few years later, Rob met his bride, Kim. Kim encouraged Rob to get his BS degree in Theology and Christian Leadership and eventually to take the steps of faith to leave his comfortable job and go into full time ministry.  Together, along with another ministry couple, Mike and Stephanie Guthrie, they launched Calvary Chapel Tracy in the winter of 2000.

Rob experienced the mountains and valleys of ministry life as a church planter and a seasoned senior pastor. He led trips to Israel, and saw God grow the church two services.  During that time the Lord blessed him and Kim with four children.  The Lord led Rob to begin a large scale building project that would encompass their growth; which was completed on 2014.  After serving  Calvary Chapel Tracy for 18 years, the entire family (all six of them!) felt a stirring that a new chapter in their lives was about to begin.

This stirring began as a small seed in their daughter, Keira's heart in 2014.  After a visit to their friend's home in Washington, she began praying they would move to Washington.  Then, in the summer of 2017 (after much prayer), they purchased land in SW Washington.  In the Fall (2018), the Krenik family moved into a rental townhouse, while their new home was being built.

Early 2017 Rob began searching for a replacement after a year of prayer.  He found Alejandro, a recent graduate from the CC Bible College.  He began discipling, mentoring and preparing him for a year and a half.   Rob's vision was to follow the model of the Apostle Paul, to plant a strong foundation that a "Timothy" would one day take over.  He put together a team of elders to provide wisdom and counsel.  In Oct 2018 Rob transitioned the senior pastor role to Alejandro.  And today Calvary Chapel Tracy is healthy and in excellent hands, and Rob is confident that God is going to continue to work in a powerful way through Alejandro.

Rob joined the staff of Crossroads Community Church in Vancouver as the Families Pastor in Dec 2019.  He oversaw the “Kids Ministry” of children from birth to 5th grade.  He lead hundreds of volunteers and 500+ children in weekly services. He lead his team through the Covid pandemic and rebuilt the ministry.  He left Crossroads in the Fall of 2022 to support the pastors and staff of the Calvary Chapel he attends.

Rob’s desire is to come along pastors who need refreshment. He is available to mentor, encourage, coach, assist, provide leader training, teach and serve pastors.  His wife, Kim, is a gifted worship leader who shares Rob's heart to be a blessing to pastors and their wives, and together they are available to serve churches anywhere.
